Minister Kang Do-hyung inspected the port expansion and typhoon preparedness at Pier 7 of the New Port in Busan on August 30. Pier 7 of the New Port in Busan, which opened in April this year as the country's first fully automated container terminal, currently operates three berths (Phases 2-5 of the New Port in Busan) with construction ongoing to develop two more berths (Phases 2-6 of the New Port in Busan) by 2027. Minister Kang received reports from the Busan Port Authority on the status of additional port construction, the emergency operation plan for Busan Port in preparation for typhoons and other summer disasters, and meticulously reviewed detailed response plans from initial emergency measures to disaster recovery.
