The Minister of Oceans and Fisheries attended the entrance ceremony for the main camp of the 2024 Youth Ocean Olympiad held at the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology in Busan and encouraged the participating students. The Ocean Olympiad was held for the first time this year to help young people—as future leaders—develop ocean-friendly values and acquire knowledge related to the ocean. This year's Ocean Olympiad main camp will be a three-night, four-day event during which 60 youths will submit creative solutions to ocean-related problems. Youths who show excellent results will receive the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Award and an opportunity for short-term overseas training.
