On April 2nd (Tuesday), Minister Kang Do-Hyung of Oceans and Fisheries met with representatives of shipping lines, including Ilshin Shipping and Tanker Shipping (해운유조), and related organizations such as the Korea Shipping Association and the Korea Ocean Business Corporation in Seoul to discuss ideas for coastal cargo vessel innovation. The meeting looked at changing trends in the coastal shipping sector, including the strengthening of regulations on greenhouse gas emissions, discussed in-depth the policy directions for the coastal shipping sector to revive and become more competitive, and listened to the challenges of the industry, which suffers from decreased volume due to low freight rates and rising operating costs.
