Following the roundtable forum with the shipping delegation on January 11th (Thursday), Minister Kang Do-Hyung of Oceans and Fisheries held his first meeting with the Executive Committee of the Federation of Korean Seafarers’ Unions (FKSU) on January 23rd (Tuesday) to discuss and communicate on major seafarer-related issues. The meeting was attended by 13 FKSU representatives, including President Park Sung-Yong and the executive committee. The meeting highlighted the practical efforts made for the faithful implementation of the Labor-Management-Government Joint Declaration, an agreement finalized after 15 years and signed on November 6th (Monday), 2023, and covered in-depth the various outstanding issues faced by seafarers, including issues related to their welfare.
