Minister Kang Do-Hyung of Oceans and Fisheries visited the Open Public Information Center for the Incheon Inner Harbor Redevelopment Project and thoroughly inspected the progress of the redevelopment project for Piers 1 and 8. The Incheon Inner Harbor Pier 1·8 Redevelopment Project is a project aimed at revamping the old port, which has lost its former competitiveness due to the opening of a new port, as a hub of maritime culture and tourism by connecting it to the original city center. Incheon Metropolitan City, Incheon Housing and City Development Corporation, and Incheon Port Authority agreed lat year to jointly participate in the project, with follow-up procedures planned to commence this year, including the selection of project partners. While inspecting the redevelopment site, Minister Kang emphasized that “the government will actively support the successful redevelopment of piers 1 and 8 of the inner harbor.” He also asked for “the cooperation of related organizations to ensure the rebirth of the Incheon Inner Harbor, a gateway port to the metropolitan area, into a maritime tourism and cultural complex.”
