On August 24th, after the release of the contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan, Minister Cho Seung Hwan of Oceans and Fisheries met with the Chairman and union leaders of Suhyup and business representatives at the Noryangjin Fish Market to inspect seafood consumption and hold discussions. Minister Cho also made seafood purchases with Onnuri gift certificates at the Noryangjin Fish Market, which had been previously designated as a ‘street-style shopping mall’ on August 4th. This was followed by a briefing on seafood safety management measures and consumption support programs to industry representatives, including those from market shops and the Suhyup chairman, where the Minister also learned about the challenges they are currently facing and listened to suggestions.
