On June 23rd, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries hosted the Korean Seafarers’ Day 2023 event, under the theme ‘Toward Your Dream, Your Voyage,’ at the Event Hall of Busan Port’s International Passenger Terminal. The annual Korean Seafarers’ Day event was hosted for the first time last year, as an event to reinforce seafarer pride by enhancing awareness of their importance. This year marked its second year. Minister Cho Seung Hwan of Oceans and Fisheries expressed his “appreciation for the commitment and devotion of the seafarers who continue to work through the challenges of the ocean.” Wishing for ‘the improved status of seafarers in celebration of the Korean Seafarers’ Day,’ Minister Cho promised that the government will further improve the employment environment to provide better working conditions for seafarers while continuing efforts to nurture high-performing seafarers.
