Meeting with gim exporters

On April 21st, Minister Cho Seung Hwan of Oceans and Fisheries visited Jeollanam-do province to host a meeting with gim exporters. Five rounds of the exporters’ meetings are planned throughout year, with each round focusing on a specific category of export items and exporters. The meeting is convened as part of the activities of the Marine and Fisheries Export Promotion Planning Group, which was formed last February. The first round was held for gim exporters. The meeting was attended by 10 gim exporters in Jeonnam province as well as export support institutions, including Korea Fisheries Association, Korea Argo-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, Korea Fishery Trade Association, Korea Maritime Institute, and the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives. The meeting reviewed various support measures and methods that contributed to the record-breaking seafood exports of USD 3.15 billion last year and listened to suggestions and requests from the companies regarding the changes in export conditions to explore plans to further grow exports.
