The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF, Minister Kang Do-hyung) announced that it would host a “Meeting of Relevant Organizations in Shipping, Port, and Logistics Sectors” in Sejong on Wednesday, December 18 following the domestic shipping company CEOs' meeting held the previous day.

Minister Kang Do-hyung will attend the meeting to discuss response strategies with regard to the uncertainty in the export and import supply chain following the inauguration of the Trump administration, along with representatives of major public institutions, research institutes, and industries.

With the anticipated changes in US trade policies, inauguration of the Trump administration, and ongoing Middle East conflicts contributing to global supply chain uncertainties, concerns have been raised regarding the potential impacts on Korea's shipping, port, and logistics sectors. In response, the government plans to implement a series of measures to help the industry strengthen its competitiveness and seize opportunities in new markets despite the prevailing uncertainties. These initiatives include the development of Jinhae New Port as a smart mega port, support for eco-friendly transformation in port logistics, and policy financing to foster the port technology industry.

“If the government, public institutions, and private sectors work together, we can overcome uncertainties and discover new opportunities in the port and logistics fields even with the second Trump administration set to launch in January next year. I believe that the competitiveness of our import and export supply chains is directly tied to the competitiveness of our nation. I urge everyone to unite their efforts, and MOF for its part will provide all-out support,” Minister Kang Do-hyung said.
