Holding the First Yeosu International Ocean Tourism Forum, Drawing a Blueprint for Sustainable Marine Tourism
-To be held at the Yeosu Expo Convention Center on Monday, December 16 through Tuesday, December 17
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF, Minister Kang Do-hyung), Jeollanam-do, and Yeosu-si will jointly host the first Yeosu International Ocean Tourism Forum from Monday, December 16 to Tuesday, December 17.
Themed “Living Oceans, Breathing Coasts (Subtheme: The Future of Marine Spaces, A New Beginning),” this year's inaugural forum has been organized to outline a blueprint for the sustainable development of marine tourism in Korea.
This forum will be attended by representatives from overseas organizations such as the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), as well as experts worldwide to share the latest trends in the marine tourism industry and explore and discuss issues related to marine tourism from various perspectives.
On December 16, the forum's first day, a special session will be held on the “Development and Promotion of Sustainable Culture in the Marine City of Yeosu.” The opening ceremony and keynote speech will begin on the second day, followed by three presentation and discussion sessions on ▴Marine tourism, ▴Marine urban space, and ▴Marine climate.
“Marine tourism is evolving beyond simple leisure to become an industry that integrates marine ecology, healing, and recreation. I hope this forum will revitalize Korea's marine tourism industry, invigorating our coasts and fishing villages,” Minister Kang Do-hyung said.
