Public-Private Cooperation to Become a Leading Global Port

- Holding the 024 Regular Conference for Overseas Port Development on Tuesday, December 3

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF, Minister Kang Do-hyung) announced that it would hold the 2024 Regular Conference for Overseas Port Development at Lunamielle (CCMM Building) in Yeouido, Seoul on Tuesday, December 3.

Since its launch in 2016 to share strategies and cooperate to promote Korean companies’ entry into overseas port markets, the Conference for Overseas Port Development has held annual meetings to discuss public-private cooperation plans.

About 100 people—including officials from public institutions such as MOF, port authorities, Korea Ocean Business Corporation, and Export-Import Bank as well as experts from construction companies, engineering firms, and logistics companies—are expected to attend the conference.

Following the introduction of the government’s Policy for Overseas Port Market Entry Support and Response Direction, the conference plans to discuss the outlook for the global port development market focusing on investment plans for global terminals. In addition, it will share plans to expand the Korean port export model (K-Consortium) to secure the competitiveness of domestic companies in entering overseas markets and to support customized financial packages.

“Overseas port development is an important key to provide a logistics foundation for Korean companies entering overseas markets by strengthening the global logistics network. The government and the private sector will work together to support Korean companies in preempting opportunities resulting from changes in the international situation, such as the reconstruction of Ukrainian ports,” Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Kang Do-hyung said.
