Safety Inspection for the Second Half of the Year to be Conducted at Port Construction Sites

Intensive inspection of installation of safety facilities and safety management measures against falls and collisions

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) will conduct a joint safety inspection with the specialized port construction agency from Monday, September 30 to Wednesday, December 4 to prevent major accidents and safety incidents among workers at port construction sites under national management.

This inspection targets construction sites (74 locations) at nationally managed ports, and an agency specializing in construction safety diagnosis will participate in the inspection to ensure professional, effective inspection.

In particular, the inspection will focus on checking the status of measures taken for safety risk factors identified in the inspection for the first half of the year, status of safety facility installation in fall risk areas, and status of safety management preparedness for major types of disaster risks at construction sites such as falling, getting hit, tripping, and getting jammed.

The inspection team will immediately address safety risks for construction site workers identified during the inspection, and active administrative guidance including consulting on site-specific safety measures and standards to enhance workers' safety awareness will be provided following the inspection.
