2025 Contest for Fishing Village Revitalization Projects

-Support for revitalizing fishing villages by linking with private investment and financial projects worth up to KRW 30 billion

 The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) announced that it will begin accepting applications for a public contest to select sites for the “2025 Fishing Village Revitalization Project.”

 The ministry has selected 98 fishing villages over the past two years to support the creation of economic and living bases and improve safety facilities, and it plans to select 26 new fishing villages for 2025.

 The application period for the public contest will be from December 9 to 12 for Type 1 and Type 2 projects and from October 28 to 31 for Type 3 projects. After being evaluated for each type, the new target sites will be announced in February 2025.

 MOF plans to hold a public briefing session for local residents and government officials in September to explain in detail the changes from last year—such as the project implementation method and evaluation items—and have a Q&A session.

 “As we are entering the third year of the fishing village revitalization project, I expect project plans that suit the characteristics of the region to be proposed based on a high level of understanding. I hope this will become a successful example of local residents and governments becoming one team to revitalize our fishing villages that are on the verge of extinction,” said Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Kang Do-hyung.
