2024 Unmanned System World Congress (UWC) to be held at COEX, Seoul

The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) announced that it would hold the 2024 Unmanned System World Congress (UWC)—the sixth iteration this year—jointly with the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MOTIE), Ministry of National Defense (MND), Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF), Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA), and Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) at COEX, Seoul for three days from July 17 to 19.

This event has been held every year since 2018 to respond to the recent rapid growth of the unmanned vehicle* market, strengthen cooperation between ministries, promote national R&D innovations, transfer and commercialize original technologies, and revitalize industry-academe-research exchanges and cooperation.

With “A new world created by unmanned vehicles” as topic, researchers, companies, and governments as well as the general public will share unmanned vehicle technology and industry trends and discuss the vision of future unmanned vehicles through conferences, exhibitions, and networking.

In particular, Professor Myeong Hyeon of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), who won the grand prize in the 2023 International Conference on Robotics and Automation (IEEE ICRA) and Hilti SLAM Challenge held in London, United Kingdom in June 2023, will be invited as keynote speaker, introducing spatial intelligence (SLAM) technology and application wherein unmanned vehicles (robots) recognize the current location and build a map of their surroundings.

The exhibition hall displaying achievements in government R&D innovation measures 10,000 square meters, featuring ① 182 exhibition booths for government R&D innovation achievements from MSIT, MITIE, MND, and KASA and ② 94 company booths from 101 companies including LIG Nex1.
