Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to strengthen cooperation on maritime digitalization with other countries in the Asia-Pacific region

 

- An international training and capacity building program for civil servants invited from eight countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

 

 The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will hold the 6th International Workshop for Maritime Digital Capacity Building in Daejeon from July 9 to 11 in collaboration with the International Maritime Organization, the International Hydrographic Organization, and the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities.

 

 The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has held the annual workshop together with Asian Pacific countries since 2018, in line with the international community's acceleration of maritime digitalization, including the introduction of smart ports and autonomous ships.

 

 This edition of the workshop, which marks its 6th anniversary this year, will be attended by maritime experts from eight countries including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, East Timor, and Vietnam.

 

 The workshop will share trends in the development and application of marine digital technologies in each country and introduce cutting-edge marine mobility technologies such as eco-friendly and autonomous ships. The main contents of the workshop include:
▲ International trends in marine digital technology;
▲ Examples of the application of marine digital technology in each participating country;
▲ Next-generation digital chart standards;

 

 The participants will also go on a technical field trip, visiting major research and industrial sites such as the Korean e-Navigation Operation Center, the Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering, the Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship Demonstration Center, and Hyundai Heavy Industries.
