- Minister Cho Seung Hwan of Oceans and Fisheries to present excellence of Korean seafood to 77 buyers from 12 countries -

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (Minister Cho Seung Hwan) will host an Overseas Buyers Invitation Event at BEXCO, Busan starting November 1st (Wednesday) to promote the excellence of Korean seafood products and to expand their exports.

A total of 77 buyers from 12 countries engaged in the import of Korean seafood will be attending the event to present local trends and challenges in the field of Korean seafood imports. In response, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will draft timely solutions to such challenges in collaboration with export-supporting organizations, including the Korea Fisheries Association, aT, National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, Korea Fishery Trade Association, and Korea Maritime Institute.

At the event, Minister Cho will introduce popular export items, such as laver, abalone, and eel to buyers from major export destinations, including the United States, China, and Japan, through a tasting event, and will actively communicate Korea’s pro-export policies and explain the seafood safety management system of Korea, which systematically manages the end-to-end process from production to distribution.

In addition, the overseas buyers will also participate in trade consultations for the import of Korean seafood at the 21st Busan International Seafood & Fisheries EXPO, which will take place from the 1st (Wednesday) to 3rd (Friday) November. As this is the first trade fair in Korea to host buyers from the Greater China region since the pandemic, it is expected to revitalize Korea’s seafood exports.
