The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (Minister Cho Seung Hwan) and the Korea Ocean Foundation (President Moon Hae-nam) announced five winning tour programs for the ‘7th Excellence in Marine Tour Programs Contest (April 26 – June 30).’

From a total of 35 marine tour program submissions, five winners were selected in recognition of their excellence, highlighting those that offer a diverse range of experience-based marine leisure content in response to public demand for experiential tours and those that can contribute to the vitality of the local economies.

The final winning programs include: ① ‘Yacht Summer Package,’ where tourists sail out to the ocean waters around Tongyeong in the Hallyeosudo region and enjoy a wide range of underwater activities, such as snorkeling and jet skiing; ② ‘Flyboard Experience Tour,’ where people can ‘fly’ above the sea surface; ③ ‘Seaside Starry Night Leisure Camping,’ where visitors can spend a night under a transparent tent at Sanghwado island, Yeosu; ④ ‘Rediscover Gimnyeong’s Coast,’ where travelers can snorkel with haenyeo and experience taewak-making (a net bag to store the day’s catch); and ⑤ ‘Dog Surfing Festival,’ where participants can surf with their pet dogs and take photographs at Dadaepo Beach in Busan.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will provide support for the commercialization of the five winning programs, providing subsidies of KRW 30 million to each and aiding their promotional activities. From the end of July, the Ministry plans to recruit ‘Free Experience Groups for Excellent Marine Tour Programs’ to offer the opportunity for the general public to experience these outstanding tour programs.
