MOF MINISTER OFFERS GUIDE FOR ON-SITE TOURS DURING ROK-ASEAN SPECIAL SUMMIT

- Vietnamese Prime Minister and Philippines Agriculture Secretary  Visit Busan Port and NIFS

 

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF; Minister MOON, Seong-Hyeok) offered the Vietnamese Prime Minster and Philippines Agriculture Secretary a guide around major oceans/fisheries facilities such as Busan Port and NIFS(National Institute of Fisheries Science). The minister followed up with his proposal, which was happily agreed by the Prime Minister and the Secretary.

 

On 25 November (Mon), the Minister invited Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to Busan Port and Busan North Port Redevelopment Area, and provided a guide around the areas. Also, the Minister asked for Vietnam’s interest and support so that Korean companies can expand their presence in Vietnam’s Lach Huyen Port redevelopment proejct, which is going on as a cooperative project with MOF.

Also, on 26 November (Tue), the Minister will invite Philippines Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar to National Institute of Fisheries Science, located in Gijang, Busan, where he will introduce up-to-date research facilities for fish farming and fisheries equipment to the Secretary, and discuss ways for ROK-Philippines cooperation in fisheries.

 

In addition, based on the “MOU on fisheries cooperation” to be signed on 26 November (Tue), the Minister will request the Philippines’ cooperation for the continued expansion of bilateral fisheries cooperation.

Minister MOON, Seong-Hyeok explained that “MOF will actively promote Korea’s oceans and fisheries industry to ASEAN countries, using this Korea-ASEAN Commemorative Summit”, and added that “MOF will continue to strengthen oceans and fisheries cooperation with ASEAN countries and identify new cooperative projects, so that Korean oceans and fisheries companies can expand their market presence in ASEAN.”
