Establishing a Platform for Cooperation to Take the Marine Plant Service Industry to the Next Level

- November 28 ~ 29; holding the Industry-Academe-Research Development Council and Korea-Indonesia Forum to promote the marine plant service industry of domestic companies

 The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF, Minister Kang Do-hyung), Korea-Indonesia Offshore Research Cooperation Center (KIORCC, located in Jakarta), and Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering (KRISO, President Hong Ki-yong) will hold the “Marine Plant Service Industry Cooperation Week (Business Week)” event at the Wyndham Grand Busan from Thursday, November 28, to Friday, November 29.

 To increase the marine plant service industry's synergy effects, this event will integrate the technology, corporate support, and overseas expansion sectors that were held separately until last year. About 250 people, including Indonesian government officials, are expected to attend.

 Key programs of the event will include the following: ▲technical conference to introduce the latest issues in the marine plant service industry and international certification technologies; ▲development council meeting between industry, academe, and research institutions to discuss on-site issues and solutions; ▲industry forum to expand the Korea-Indonesia public-private cooperation, and; ▲market briefing and business matching consultations with key Southeast Asian clients (6 companies) and over 50 domestic companies.

 At the Korea-Indonesia forum in particular, plans for the joint recycling project of aging marine plants—which the two countries plan to pursue in 2025—will be discussed along with strategies for training local workforce when Korean companies enter Indonesia, leveraging Korean companies’ feat of securing projects worth KRW 560 billion in Indonesia this year.

 The event will also include a launch ceremony for the newly established Marine Plant Service Industry Association to raise awareness of the domestic marine plant service industry and consolidate business capabilities.

 "Through this cooperation week event, we have solidified the growth foundation of the domestic marine plant service industry and created an opportunity to strengthen cooperation. We will systematically support the industry’s leap forward as a new maritime and fisheries industry by listening to on-site feedback and collaborating with the industry and associations," said Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Kang Do-hyung.
