Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries signs agreement with Busan-si to hold the 10th Our Ocean Conference

- Preparations in full swing through cooperation between MOF and Busan-si to host a leading international maritime conference in Busan
- About 1,000 people including representatives from governments, NGOs, and companies from over 100 countries worldwide expected

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) announced that it will hold an agreement signing ceremony for cooperation with Busan-si at Asti Hotel in Busan on July 19, 2024 to host the 10th Our Ocean Conference (OOC) to be held at BEXCO, Busan for three days from April 28 to 30, 2025.

OOC is an international maritime conference that deals exclusively with the ocean and is an occasion to gather for maritime leaders from around the world, including governments, non-governmental organizations, and companies from over 100 countries. In particular, it is a forum for the international community to discuss global marine problems such as marine pollution, illegal fishing, and climate change and seek cooperative solutions.

The 10th OOC is significant in spreading the importance of marine conservation and delivering a message calling for specific actions under the slogan “Our Ocean, Our Action.” In particular, this conference will serve as an important platform for governments, companies, and civil society to announce specific promises and actions for marine conservation and seek cooperation to bring about practical change.

This Agreement with Busan-si stipulates cooperation between MOF and Busan—Korea’s leading maritime city—to utilize Busan’s diverse infrastructure effectively including the city’s marine, MICE, and tourism attractions and provide the best environment for participants of the international conference to make full preparations for a successful hosting.

The signing of the Agreement is expected to help host the event successfully and lay the foundation for long-term cooperation between the two organizations in responding to climate change and creating a sustainable marine economy.
