Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Hosts Briefing Session on 2024 Foreign Press Policy

 

- Introducing MOF policies on conservation of marine environment, including conservation of marine biodiversity, international cooperation in marine and fisheries initiatives and so on -

 

 The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries held a policy briefing session for foreign correspondents stationed in Korea on July 2 (Tues) at the KOCIS Center to present major marine and environment policies and implementation strategies of the Ministry.

 

 The policy briefing event was attended by 7 foreign correspondents from seven media companies, including Nikkei Asia of Japan and Xinhua News Agency of China, Skynews of U.K. across four nations. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries focused mainly on the ① conservation of marine biodiversity, ② building a healthy marine environment, and ③ orderly use of marine space. Lastly, the Ministry also explained the significance and theme of the 10th Our Ocean Conference, which is scheduled to be hosted in Busan in April 2025.

 

 During the closing remarks, Minister Kang Do Hyung called for “collaboration of all stakeholders to preserve the remarkable marine environment and biodiversity of Korea and to deliver sustainable oceans for our future generations.” In addition, he asked the international correspondents for their continued interest and support for the policies of the Ministry.
